MCDONALDS' rebranding

Because it’s monday, we start the week with a little inspiration and motivation. We, as PACKpr, are mainly focused on organizations who are looking for a successful rebranding or some new ideas, but don’t know how to make sure it fits the brand or organization.

Because we want to help you, but also want to give you tips and tricks, so you can continue this process after we’re done, every Monday round 01.00 PM we post an relevant post and blog with tips, tricks and ofcourse examples of a successful rebranding.

McDonalds

So we kick-off this week with a big company who is known by everyone and had a went to a really successful rebranding this past few years: McDonalds!

How it was

McDonalds is one of the biggest fastfood chains in the world and a very populair restaurant for families. But when the health revolution started, documentaires as ‘Super Size Me’ aired and more people were dealing with obesity, McDonalds was not as populair as it were before.

When less people were going to McDonalds and more and more people were criticizing, McDonalds knew that they had to change. And so they did.

Rebranding MCDONALDS

McDonalds didn’t change the food they had much, but just added some new healthier options. Instead of only fries, burgers and nuggets, people could also choose from carrots, salads, tomatoes. Not only did they change the food, but they had to change the image too.

McDonalds still had dirty locations which were only made for eating. To make it more of a family restaurant and show of the healthier choices, they also had to change the image of McDonalds restaurants. And so they did. The restaurants became more chique, modern and cleaner. The new image of McDonalds was born.

McDonalds now

Nowadays McDonalds is still rebranding. McDonalds is still the biggest fastfood chain in the world and still known by everyone. This is what makes the rebranding successful. It changed, but it still the same old McDonalds everyone grew up with. Not every McDonalds restaurant is modernized yet and a rebranding is not done overnight, it takes time and strategy.
